Who We Are

The Founder of Crown Land Productions, Walter John Stewart  ~ Johnny Stewart ~  is a life long photographer of Banff National Park and the Canadian Rockies. The focus of the company is to document events of all types in the Canadian Rockies.

The company has the ability to cover short term and long term events in both photography and video productions. On large event dates we organize, host, entertain and produce events with an elite collection of individuals interested in showing our lovely guest only the best vistas and preserving only the most keepsake memeories to build on.

In 1996 he launched his first independent publishing house in the Canadian Rockies.

With a modest selection of 4 frameable note cards. It was the very first selection of collectable note cards ever printed for Banff. The scenes were captivating and the selection grew and grew. In only 2 years, the collection had grown to a business 8 note cards, 32 Postcards, 25 locations and a Golden Regional Book Store in the Cascade Plaza. What made the success so sure was that the series was the very first complete line of Winter Post Cards in the Canadian Rockies and Organizations such as Discover Banff Tours bought 20,000 cards at a time.

Unlike any other patrotic photographer in the Canadian Rockies Crown Land Productions is lead by a distant grandson of the very creator of Banff National Park. Yes, the very first Stewarts to arrive on the shores in the early 1850s from the Highlands of Scotland built the very first Church on the shores of Lake Ontario and eventaully ventured west. In the early 1800 George A. Stewart was commsioned to be the very first to draw the boundaries of Banff National Park, and then, Became the first Super Attendent of Parks Canada.

When returning home to Banff, after univirsity, where he pursued a career in Advertising Design he quickly became a celebrated Artist in Banff and was the head Art Director and Pre Press for the Craig and Canyon. He quickly became inspired by the natural history of Banff and began painting murals for the environment and the importance of sustainable development.

During 2000-2005, Johnny owned, and operated the second largest regional book store in Banff, Alberta. With his invested time learning about the region soon made the orgainzation a provider for last mnitute intimate specail events that insured quality events with no interuption of the mass tourism traffic moving through the parks. Throughout 16 years of being a Registered Professional Canon Professional, thousands of dates have been locked in time with an archive of hundreds of thousands of heartfelt photographic memeories found in the Western Canada.

In 2005 he asssisted in photography documentation of the pine bettle studies along the Fairholme Ranges.

In 2011 he became the first Photographer to indorse Tree free Archival Stone Papers for his enlargements and primary printed media. He is the leader of Forrest Conservancy in Canada inspired only by the need to stop havesting trees for the paper media. Today 40% of deforestation is caused by the use of publishing on paper from trees. That's 5 billion trees globally. The end result is desertfication across not only Canada but the world. Today Canada boasts to own 40-50% of all the remaining forest and like the glaciers found in the Canadian Rockies these trees are forecasted to disapear if Canadians don't take a stand against big business.
